How to use
- Drop an audio file into the box or click to choose one. With a video file, only the sound is loaded.
- Drag the handles on the waveform, or click it, to set the start and end. You can also type exact times in seconds, or focus a handle and nudge it with the arrow keys (0.1 s, or 1 s with Shift).
- Press Play selection to check it, and add a fade in or fade out so it starts and ends smoothly.
- Choose a format, press Cut & save, listen to the result and click Download.
FAQ
Can I make a ringtone with this?
Yes. Cut a clip of around 30 seconds and save it as M4A (AAC), which works on most phones. On an iPhone, rename the file to .m4r before adding it so it shows up as a ringtone.
Does cutting reduce the quality?
Saving as WAV stores the decoded sound without any compression. WebM and M4A are compressed again, but at 128 kbps or higher the difference is hard to hear.
Can I save as MP3?
Browsers don’t include an MP3 encoder, so MP3 isn’t offered. M4A (AAC) and WAV play on almost every device instead.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Drawing the waveform, cutting and saving all happen inside your browser, and your file is never sent anywhere.
