How to use

  1. Drag an image onto the box or click to choose one. The color in the top-left corner is made transparent first.
  2. To remove a different color, click it on the image. The checkerboard shows through wherever the image is now transparent.
  3. If some background is left, raise “Tolerance”. If the edges look jagged, raise “Soften edges”.
  4. If the background color also appears inside the subject, turn on “Only the area connected to where you clicked”. A black preview background makes leftover fringes easy to spot.
  5. Click “Download PNG” to save a transparent PNG at the original size.

FAQ

Can it remove the background behind a person?

It removes colors close to the one you pick, so it’s ideal for logos, stamps, signatures and product shots on a plain background. Busy backgrounds in portraits won’t come out cleanly.

Why can’t I save it as JPG?

JPG can’t store transparency — transparent areas would be filled with a color. That’s why the result is always a PNG.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser and the image is never sent anywhere.
