UUID Generator

Choose a format and how many — fresh IDs appear instantly.

Your text and files never leave your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

How to use

  1. Pick a format. UUID v4 is the safe default; choose UUID v7 or ULID when sort order matters, such as database primary keys.
  2. Set how many IDs to create (up to 500). Each one goes on its own line.
  3. For UUIDs you can switch uppercase and hyphens on or off; for NanoID you can change the length.
  4. Click “Generate again” for a new batch and “Copy” to grab them.

FAQ

What is the difference between UUID v4 and v7?

All 122 payload bits of a v4 UUID are random, so there is no order. A v7 UUID starts with a 48-bit millisecond timestamp, so IDs sort by creation time, which keeps database indexes efficient. The trade-off is that v7 reveals when it was created.

When should I use ULID or NanoID?

ULID is time-sortable, only 26 characters long and case-insensitive. NanoID uses 64 URL-safe characters, which makes it popular for short links and public-facing IDs.

Could two IDs ever collide?

They come from crypto.getRandomValues, so a collision is practically impossible. A default 21-character NanoID is about as unique as a UUID v4; shorter lengths raise the odds accordingly.
