Text to Hex Converter

Type text to see its bytes in hex, or switch modes to decode hex.

Your text and files never leave your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

How to use

  1. Type or paste text. Every character is converted to its UTF-8 bytes and each byte is shown as two hex digits.
  2. Choose a format: spaces for reading, no separator for compact strings, 0x for C-style arrays or \x for string literals in code.
  3. Turn on “Uppercase” if you prefer A–F over a–f.
  4. To decode, switch to “Hex → text”. Spaces, commas, colons, hyphens and 0x, \x or % prefixes are all ignored.

FAQ

Why does one character become several hex bytes?

In UTF-8, only ASCII characters fit in one byte. “é” takes 2 bytes (c3 a9), “☕” takes 3 bytes and most emoji take 4.

Can I decode a hex string from another encoding?

Decoding expects UTF-8 bytes. Hex produced from older encodings such as Latin-1 or Shift_JIS may show broken characters ().
