List Sorter — Sort Lines Alphabetically

Paste one item per line and pick a sort order — the list is tidied up instantly.

Your text and files never leave your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

How to use

  1. Paste your list with one item per line. A column copied from Excel or Google Sheets works too.
  2. Choose a sort order: alphabetical, natural, numeric, by length, reversed or shuffled.
  3. Use “Natural” for names that contain numbers, so file2 comes before file10.
  4. Turn on “Remove duplicates” or “Remove blank lines” to clean up the list. The line count appears under the result.

FAQ

What is the difference between A → Z and natural sort?

A → Z compares text character by character, so “file10” lands before “file2”. Natural sort reads runs of digits as whole numbers, giving file1, file2 … file10.

How does numeric sorting work?

Each line is sorted by the first number it contains, including negatives, decimals and thousands separators such as 1,200. Lines without a number go to the end.

Is duplicate removal case-sensitive?

Yes, by default. With “Ignore case” on, Apple and apple count as the same line and only the first one is kept.
