Compress PDF – Reduce PDF File Size

Add a PDF, choose a compression level and press “Compress PDF”.

Your text and files never leave your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

Standard keeps text as it is and only shrinks the photos inside to the size they appear on the page (about 150 dpi). Strong, medium and light re-create pages as JPEG images for smaller files, but text can no longer be selected or searched — keep your original. Lossless leaves quality untouched but saves less.

How to use

  1. Drop a PDF into the box or click to choose one.
  2. Pick a compression level. Scans and photo-heavy PDFs usually shrink a lot even on Medium.
  3. Press “Compress PDF” to see the new size and a preview. If text looks soft, try Light.
  4. If the result is larger than the original, you get the original back. Download when you are happy.

FAQ

Can I still copy text after compressing?

Yes with Standard and Lossless, which leave text untouched. Strong, Medium and Light turn pages into images, so text can no longer be selected or searched.

How much smaller will it get?

Scanned or photo-heavy PDFs often drop to half the size or less. Text-only PDFs are already compact and may barely change.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Compression happens entirely in your browser and the file is never sent anywhere.
