Favicon Generator — Image or Text to favicon.ico

Add text or an image and get every favicon file your site needs, in all the right sizes.

Your text and files never leave your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

The apple-touch-icon (180px) is always a filled square, because iOS rounds the corners itself.

    How to use

    1. Choose “From text or emoji” to use a letter or two or an emoji, or “From an image” to start from your logo.
    2. Set the background color, shape (square, rounded or circle), text size and padding — the preview updates as you go.
    3. Press “Download all (ZIP)” to get favicon.ico, six PNGs, site.webmanifest and a file with the tags. You can also download each file on its own.
    4. Upload the files to your site’s root folder and paste the HTML tags inside <head>.

    FAQ

    Which sizes are inside favicon.ico?

It holds three images — 16, 32 and 48px — stored as PNG. Modern browsers and Windows read PNG images inside an ICO file directly.

    Can I rename the files?

Yes, but update the paths in the HTML tags and in site.webmanifest to match. Keeping the default names is the simplest option.

Why do emoji look different on each device?

Emoji are drawn with the fonts installed on your device, so they differ between Windows, macOS and Android. Once downloaded, the PNG is a picture and looks the same everywhere.

My new favicon doesn’t show up in the browser.

Browsers cache favicons for a long time. Try a hard refresh, or add ?v=2 to the end of the file paths in your tags.
