How to use

  1. Type a figure in “Value” and choose the units to convert from and to. The page opens on US mpg → km/L.
  2. Higher km/L and mpg mean better economy, while lower L/100km is better. They are inverses, so the conversion is not a fixed multiplier.
  3. “Show all units” lists the same figure in every unit at once. Zero cannot be expressed in L/100km, so it shows a dash.
  4. The page address keeps your value and units, so you can share the link as is.

FAQ

How do I convert mpg to L/100km?

Divide 235.215 by US mpg, or 282.481 by UK mpg. So 30 US mpg is about 7.84 L/100km.

Why do US and UK mpg differ for the same car?

A US gallon is about 3.785 L and a UK gallon about 4.546 L, so UK mpg figures come out roughly 20% higher.

Why does L/100km not scale like the other units?

L/100km measures fuel used per distance, while mpg and km/L measure distance per unit of fuel. One is the inverse of the other, so the converter divides instead of multiplying.
