Text to ASCII Code Converter

Type text to see the ASCII code of each character, or switch modes to decode.

Your text and files never leave your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

How to use

  1. Type or paste text. Each character becomes its ASCII code, separated by spaces.
  2. Choose decimal, hexadecimal (2 digits) or octal (3 digits) output.
  3. Characters beyond ASCII, such as é or emoji, are written as U+ code points and a notice appears below the result.
  4. To decode, switch to “Codes → text” and paste numbers separated by spaces or commas. U+ code points are accepted too.

FAQ

What is the ASCII code of a space or a line break?

A space is 32 (hex 20), a line feed is 10 (hex 0A) and a carriage return is 13 (hex 0D).

Why are some characters shown as U+ codes?

ASCII only defines 128 characters (0–127). Letters with accents, Asian scripts and emoji are Unicode characters, so their code point is shown instead.

What is the difference from text-to-decimal?

This tool focuses on ASCII values, one per character. The text-to-decimal tool can show UTF-8 bytes or Unicode code points for any text.
