How to use

  1. Drop an image here or click to choose one. A sample picture is loaded to start with.
  2. On a computer, hover over the image and the loupe shows the pixels up close. The center square is the color you’ll pick.
  3. Click a spot to show its HEX, RGB and HSL codes under “Picked color”. Each pick is added to the history below.
  4. “8 dominant colors” groups the most common colors in the image into a palette. The percentage shows how much of the image each color covers.

FAQ

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The image is opened and analyzed inside your browser only. It is never sent anywhere or stored.

Why is the picked color slightly different from my design app?

Browsers convert embedded color profiles such as Display P3 to sRGB for the screen, which can shift values by one or two. Very large images are also scaled so the longer side is 2400px before reading.

How are the dominant colors found?

The tool splits similar colors into 8 groups with median cut, then refines each group’s average color a few times. Transparent pixels are ignored.
