How to use
- Type a power rating in “Value” and choose the units to convert from and to. The page opens on kW → PS.
- US and UK sources quote mechanical horsepower (hp); many European and Asian spec sheets use metric horsepower (PS). Pick the one your source uses.

- The page address keeps your value and units, so you can share the link as is.
FAQ
How many kW is one horsepower?
Mechanical horsepower (hp) is about 745.7 W and metric horsepower (PS) is 735.49875 W. So 100 kW is roughly 134 hp or 136 PS.
Why are hp and PS different?
hp was defined as lifting 550 lb by 1 ft per second, PS as lifting 75 kg by 1 m per second. hp ends up about 1.4% larger.
How much power is a 1-ton air conditioner?
One ton of refrigeration is 12,000 BTU/h, about 3.517 kW of cooling capacity — not the electricity it draws.
