How to use
- The big number is the tempo in beats per minute. Drag the slider or use the − and + buttons to set it.
- Set “Beats per bar” — 4 for 4/4, 3 for 3/4, 6 for 6/8 — and turn on “Accent first beat” to hear a higher tone at the start of each bar.
- Don’t know the tempo? Tap “Tap tempo” along with the music a few times and the BPM follows your taps.
- Press Start to hear the beat and watch the dots light up. Your tempo and beats are kept in the page address for bookmarking.
FAQ
What BPM should I practice at?
A common approach is to start 20–30% slower than the target tempo and speed up once you can play it cleanly. Slow pieces are often 60–80 BPM, moderate ones 100–120 and fast ones 140 or more.
Will the beat stay steady?
Yes. Each click is scheduled ahead on the browser’s audio clock, so the beat stays even when the page is busy or in a background tab. Bluetooth headphones may add a small delay.
Why is there no sound on my phone?
On iPhone, web audio can be muted by the silent switch. Turn silent mode off, raise the volume and press Start again.
