How to use

  1. Drop an audio file into the box or click to pick one. Video files such as MP4 or WebM work too — only the sound is kept.
  2. Choose an output format. WAV suits editing software, while WebM (Opus) and M4A (AAC) keep files small.
  3. Change the sample rate, channels or bitrate if you need to. For voice recordings, mono at 64–96 kbps is often plenty.
  4. Press Convert, listen to the result and click Download to save it.

FAQ

Which files can I convert?

Anything your browser can play. That usually means MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, FLAC and WebM, plus the soundtrack of MP4 videos. Exact support varies a little between browsers.

Why can’t I convert to MP3?

Browsers don’t include an MP3 encoder, and this tool only offers formats it can create without licensing issues. M4A (AAC) plays on almost every phone and computer and is a good alternative.

Why are WebM and M4A greyed out?

Those formats are created with your browser’s WebCodecs feature. If it isn’t available you can still make WAV files, or open the page in a recent version of Chrome or Edge.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Reading, converting and saving all happen inside your browser, and your files are never sent anywhere.
