Binary to Hex Converter

Type binary or hex values, one per line, and they convert instantly.

Your text and files never leave your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

How to use

  1. Choose a direction and type one value per line. Spaces, underscores and 0b / 0x prefixes are ignored.
  2. Each group of 4 bits becomes one hex digit, so bit patterns line up exactly.
  3. “Keep leading zeros” preserves the full width — hex 0F becomes 0000 1111. Turn it off to drop leading zeros.
  4. “Group digits” splits binary into blocks of 4 bits and hex into bytes (2 digits) for easier reading.

FAQ

Why does one hex digit equal four binary digits?

Hexadecimal is base 16 and 16 = 2^4, so each hex digit covers exactly four bits (a nibble). That is why hex is the usual shorthand for binary data.

What happens if the number of bits is not a multiple of 4?

Zeros are added on the left before converting, so 101 is treated as 0101 and becomes 5.
