How to use
- Drop an image here or click to choose one. A sample picture is loaded to start with.
- Raise the “Pixel size” for bigger, chunkier dots.
- Lower the number of colors for a retro game look. Turn on “Dithering” to mix dots and imitate smooth gradients.
- Use “Download size” to set how many pixels each dot gets, then save it as a PNG. “1px per dot” keeps the raw pixel art.
FAQ
How do I enlarge the result without blurring it?
Download it large here, for example at 8px per dot. If you scale it up in another app, choose the “nearest neighbor” resampling option to keep the edges sharp.
How are the colors reduced?
The tool builds a palette of the image’s most common colors with median cut and maps each dot to the closest palette color. The palette is shown below the preview.
Is my photo sent to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser and nothing is uploaded.
